***Clear those gutters

PLEASE NOTE: Cleaning gutters can be the reason why you WILL NOT have a water damage issue inside your home!

Do you have loose fence posts?

Remember that anything that is not nailed down is a potential liability. Checking your fence footings for security is a must!

Replace those shingles (as needed)

If a shingle is damaged, it’s more likely to break free. If it is missing you will have a gap for wind to get under and do even more damage. Note: Installing or replacing shingles must be nailed properly — NOT above the nail line.

Water must flow away from your home.

The grade of your lot should keep water flowing away from your home and into a ditch, drain, or some other proper retention area.

Do you have a sump pump? Is your sump pump in working order?

To be extra careful, having a backup sump pump is a sure-fire way to prevent basement flooding.

Loose Siding and Repair

It is important to ensure your siding isn’t damaged. Repairing any damage beforehand is essential to prevent damage from a loss.

Proper sealing

Wind only needs a small opening to get underneath something like a shingle or siding and rip it off.

Is your generator handy?

This could ensure you don’t lose your food, or the livability of your home until power is restored.

Property Walk

Identify items around your home that could become projectiles. Move those items to a garage, a shed, or indoors.

Trim those trees

This small tip is an excellent way to protect your roof and windows.
